About Mongolia

Mongolia is an independent country south of Russia and North of China. Mongolia's rich history is still reflected today in it's interesting mixture of traditional culture and modern conveniences. Mongolia switched to a free market economy around 1990.

The southern region is well-known for the Gobi desert and it is a popular area for tourists. Mongolia's natural resources are chiefly oil, coal and copper but the country is rich in many natural metals. Cashmere is a popular export of Mongolia.

The customs and culture of the people are dense but are picked up quickly by visitors due to the famous hospitality of the Mongolian people who are, at once, shy yet very accomodating to foreigners.

"Each country's customs are different, just as each meadow's grass is different."
